May 1, marks the start of spring Turkey hunting season and open season for a variety of fresh water fish.

According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, turkey hunters can harvest up to two bearded turkeys this month, as long as they come from different wildlife management units. Hunting is permitted from a half hour before sunrise until noon each day until May 31.

On the water, it’s open season for walleye, Northern pike, pickerel and tiger muskellunge through March 2025.

Hunters and anglers looking to take advantage of the spring season must have valid licenses or they could face fines or jail time.
