This workshop will share outcomes from the recent informal public comment period that invited stakeholder feedback on Superior Energy Performance® (SEP®) program documents in preparation for the 2018 program update (SEP 2018). To accompany the 2018 SEP revision, DOE would like to engage meeting participants on a planned expanded recognition program for all 2018 SEP certified facilities. The goal is to recognize the success of ISO 50001 and the results certified under SEP 2018. The workshop will invite discussion toward defining the recognition categories, which are expected to highlight exceptional improvements in energy performance or absolute energy savings, best practice adoption, and multi-facility (enterprise) deployment under the SEP 2018 program framework.

The DOE-administered Superior Energy Performance® program provides guidance, tools, and protocols for facilities that want third-party verification and certification of the energy performance improvement from ISO 50001. Members of the U.S. Council for Energy Efficient Manufacturing, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) developed SEP as a transparent system for certifying sustained improvements in energy performance and management practices.
